The Anatomical Body

If someone were to ask you what comes to mind when you think of anatomy during the Renaissance period, what would be your response? If you are anything like me, you’d probably think of naked bodies posed in various ways and in even more varied settings. Now truthfully you wouldn’t be far off, but why? Why was the human body depicted in such ways during this period?  Was it for the art of it, was it for shock value of it all or was it for a higher purpose? Are you curious?
