Description

Hohenheim, also known as Paraclesus, shortly discusses a controversial yet popular herb Guaiacum, known for its medicinal properties brought from the Americas to Europe. The guaiacum was believed to be useful in the disease syphillis by many physicians. Paraclesius, however, argues in this short text of the ineffectiveness of this plant to treat syphillis. Instead, it is seen that in Paraclesus' later writings, specifically Von der Frantzosischen kranckheit Drey Bucher, where he discusses alternative methods, by use of chemicals instead, to heal syphillis.
